A purely chemical HBr laser
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:6104393
Purely chemical laser action in HBr has been achieved for the first time. Chlorine atoms produced by the reaction of NO with ClO/sub 2/ were reacted with molecular bromine to form bromine atoms which in turn reacted with HI to form vibrationally excited HBr. Multiline HBr laser output of 0.58 W originated from the P(1 to 0)(4), P(1 to 0)(5) and P(1 to 0)(6) lines of the v=1 to 0 vibrational band.
