Expanding geothermal industry

A 1987 review of the world's geothermal power plants finds 192 operating in 17 countries for a total of 4838 MW. There should be another 70 plants operating by 1991. The Geysers field in northern California has the world's largest project with 26 geothermal power plants and a combined capacity of 1900 MW. The author reviews the capacity, revenues, and other details of the major producers.
