Trends in instrument development for reactor in-core flux monitoring

Journal Article · · IEEE Trans. Nucl. Sci.; (United States)
Some significant developments have taken place relative to power reactor fixed in-core flux instrumentation during the past five years, both from the standpoint of sensor development and assembly design. This has resulted in improved sensor lifetimes and operational reliability. A comparative analysis of the main characteristics of three in-core monitors, namely miniature fission chambers, self-powered flux detectors and gamma thermometers will be given.
