New kind of chiral bag model

We study a new kind of chiral bag model in which the pion cloud surrounding the hadron core is replaced by a chiral field that is confined, as are the quarks, to the interior of the bag. We demonstrate that hedgehog-type solutions exist for this model, and we study their properties, both in the nonlinear limit and in the more general case when the coupling constant governing the self-interactions of the chiral field is not sent to infinity. We speculate on the physical significance of our results.
