Theory of textures in rotating superfluid /sup 3/He

Conference · · AIP Conf. Proc.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6096904
Theoretical principles underlying the unusual signatures of vortices in textural NMR on rotating superfluid /sup 3/He are summarized here. The authors emphasize the evidence for continuous vorticity in the A-phase and a complicated structure of the vortex core in the B-phase, manifested through the observed first-order phase transition of the core of vortices. Textures in a rotating cylinder of /sup 3/He-B which result under various combined orientating effects of surfaces, vortices, and the normal fluid-superfluid counterflow are discussed. 23 references, 16 figures.
