Elastic scattering of K/sup + -/ mesons by /sup 40//sup en-dash//sup 48/Ca and the analysis of neutron distributions

The differential cross sections of the elastic scattering of K/sup + -/ by /sup 40//sup en-dash//sup 48/Ca are calculated in the framework of the eikonal approximation. The theoretical values obtained by using different parameters are compared. Through adjusting the parameters of the neutron distribution, the agreement between theoretical values and experimental data is improved. The result shows that the rms radius of the neutron distribution of /sup 40/Ca is smaller than that of the proton (about 0.15 fm smaller), and the surface thickness of the neutron distribution of /sup 40/Ca is thinner than that of the proton. This is consistent with the results of the computation made by the Hartree-Fock method and agrees with the analysis of elastic scattering of protons by /sup 40/Ca at medium energies by other authors.
