Regional coal-mining employment in the US from 1985 to 2000

A discussion is presented of the data source used in this study as the basis for the expected impact of changes in the regional supply of and demand for coal. Also included is a discussion of the methodology used to estimate the regional changes in employment. The next section presents and discusses the results of the analysis. Next comes a comparison of the results given in the paper with those of the National Coal Model in order to help assess the sensitivity of the results to the underlying parameters. The final section summarizes the results and suggests areas for future work.
