Ignition control system for internal combustion engines

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6092915
An ignition control system is described for internal combustion engines comprising: a reference angle sensor for detecting the rotational speed of the internal combustion engine and generating a reference angle signal by discriminating a point near the top dead center; an angle sensor for detecting the rotational speed of the internal combustion engine and generating an angle signal by discriminating the revolutions for each predetermined angle; and a microcomputer including an output compare register, a free-running counter and a timer control status register for computing the ignition timing and the ignition coil energization time thereby to control the energization of the ignition coil in response to the reference angle signal, the angle signal and data on the operating conditions representing at least the amount of intake air.
