Finite Larmor radius effects in the absorption of electromagnetic waves around the electron cyclotron frequency

The role of finite Larmor radius effects in the absorption of the extraordinary and ordinary mode at frequencies around the electron cyclotron frequency by a weakly relativistic thermal plasma of finite density is investigated. An inconsistent approximation regarding the absorption of the extraordinary mode at perpendicular propagation is corrected.
