Triton and alpha emission in the thermal-neutron-induced ternary fission of /sup 233/U, /sup 235/U, /sup 239/Pu, and /sup 241/Pu

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. C; (United States)
The energy characteristics and the emission probabilities of the tritons and the ..cap alpha.. particles emitted in the thermal-neutron-induced ternary fission of /sup 233/U, /sup 235/U, /sup 239/Pu, and /sup 241/Pu have been studied at a neutron guide of a high flux reactor, using surface barrier ..delta..E-E telescope detectors. Within the experimental uncertainties, E-bar/sub ..cap alpha../ and E-bar/sub t/ appear to be constant. On the other hand, the widths of these distributions and the ..cap alpha.. and t emission probabilities seem to be correlated with Z/sup 2//A and with lambda (i.e., the constant for radioactive ..cap alpha.. decay) of the fissioning systems. These results are interpreted and discussed.
