Options are available for pipeline and compressor-station drip design

For many years, pipeline drips have filled a vital role in transporting gas from wellheads to field compressor stations. Design criteria for pipeline drips that are used or could be used in field gas-gathering systems in the panhandle area are discussed. Drips continue to be used for several reasons. They remove liquids and sediment from pipelines, increasing pipeline efficiencies and reducing corrosion/erosion of facilities located down stream. Drips can be field fabricated, usually from fittings and pipe that are readily available, and they are relatively inexpensive to fabricate and install. Drips are installed below grade where liquids-handling problems due to freezeups are minimized. Usually, the operation of drips requires little maintenance, and they have a long life expectancy.
