Energy gap in the high-T/sub c/ superconductor La/sub 1. 85/Sr/sub 0. 15/CuO/sub 4/

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. B: Condens. Matter; (United States)
The far-infrared (FIR) reflectance of the high-T/sub c/ superconductor La/sub 1.85/Sr/sub 0.15/CuO/sub 4/ has been measured in the frequency range 15 to 400 cm/sup -1/. Below the superconducting onset temperature T = 36 K, absorption features in the FIR spectrum indicate an energy gap with a functional form similar to the BCS gap, but with a smaller magnitude.
