Method for seismic trace interpolation

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6089228

This patent describes a method for interpolating seismic data. It comprises: establishing a trace window containing seismic traces over a period of time, selecting dips defining dip ranges within the trace window, generating a grace estimate for each of the dip ranges, comprising the steps of, filtering each one of the frequency components of the seismic traces by mathematically integrating a time shift in the frequency components across the dip ranges, and summing the filtered frequency components, demodulating each of the seismic traces to obtain respective trace envelopes, generating a weighing function for each of the dips corresponding to the correctness of the dip, weighing each of the trace estimates with the weighing function of the trace estimate's respective dip, and summing the weighted trace estimates to generate an interpolated trace.
