The purpose of this document is to present environmental monitoring data, collected during the Department of Energy Limestone Injection Multistage Burner (DOE LIMB) Demonstration Project Extension. These data were collected by implementing the Environmental Monitoring Plan (EMP) for the DOE LIMB Demonstration Project Extension, dated August 1988. This is the first in a series of EMP status reports to be submitted throughout the duration of the DOE project. The data presented in this report were generated from October to December 1989, and January 1990. The DOE project is an extension of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) original LIMB Demonstration. The program is operated under DOE's Clean Coal Technology Program of emerging clean coal technologies'' under the categories of in boiler control of oxides of sulfur and nitrogen'' as well as post-combustion clean-up.'' The objective of the LIMB program is to demonstrate the sulfur dioxide (SO{sub 2}) and nitrogen oxide (NO{sub x}) emission reduction capabilities of the LIMB system. The LIMB system is a retrofit technology to be used for existing coal fired boilers equipped with electrostatic precipitators (ESPs). 4 figs., 7 tabs.
