Planning for offshore oil development: Gulf of Alaska OCS handbook

The purpose of this handbook is to clarify the nature of OCS oil and gas activity in the waters off Alaska and to spell out what it will mean to all Alaskans, particularly to people in coastal communities directly involved. Secondly, the book sets forth the state's policies on OCS development, encouraging cooperation and coordination of effort among local governments and state agencies so that related onshore activities will confer the most benefit and the least harm. Lease sale areas; petroleum potential; development scenarios (no find, moderate, high, bonanza finds); onshore facilities (no find, moderate, high, and bonanza finds); facility siting; employment (offshore, onshore, indirect, total direct and indirect employment); population dynamics; community impacts; and major policy recommendations are discussed.
