The travelers attended the ''Twelfth International Conference on Cyclotrons and Their Applications'' held in Berlin, West Germany, from May 8--12, 1989, where they presented a paper on ''HISTRAP Hardware Prototype Studies.'' One traveler served on the International Organizing Committee (D.K. Olsen). The conference offered a unique opportunity to learn of cyclotron and related activity throughout the world. Review talks were given on the current generation of K greater than or equal to 400 superconducting and conventional separated-sector research cyclotrons. All of these machines are in operation or nearing completion. No new major projects were announced. There is considerable new work on cyclotrons for radiation therapy and isotope production.
