This patent describes a superconducting metallic tape consisting of at least 100 alternating layers of a niobium-containing superconductor and copper, with each layer having a thickness in the range of 0.5-1.5 times the coherence length for the superconducting composition and each copper layer thickness in the range of 170-600 Angstroms.
