The hydride complex RuH(BH{sub 4})(Cyttp) was produced from the reaction of RuCl{sub 2}(Cyttp) with excess NaBH{sub 4}. A series of six-coordinate RuHCl(L)(Cyttp) complexes (L = CO, P(OMe){sub 3}, CH{sub 3}CN) were synthesized from RuHCl(Cyttp), which was prepared from the reaction of RuCl{sub 2}(Cyttp) and excess lithium hydride in THF. Ruthenium dihydride complexes RuH{sub 2}(L)(Cyttp) (L = CO, N{sub 2}, CNCH{sub 2}C{sub 6}H{sub 5}, P(OMe){sub 3}, and P(OPh){sub 3}) were synthesized from RuH{sub 2}(H{sub 2})(Cyttp), which was prepared from the reaction of RuCl{sub 2}(Cyttp) with NaH in THF under a H{sub 2} atmosphere. The new compounds were characterized by microanalyses and infrared and {sup 1}H and {sup 31}P NMR spectroscopy. The crystal structure of RuII{sub 2} (N{sub 2})(Cyttp) was determined and is reported here.
