Vessel to remove oil floating on water

A vessel used to remove oil accumulated on water using a combined mechanical and chemical process is described. The vessel has a front inlet which is connected to a separating tank. At the back end of the tank is a oil skimming installation usually in the shape of a gutter. Behind the skimming installation is a vertical wall in the tank. There is an opening between the lower part of this wall and the bottom of the tank allowing the fluid excess to flow to the back part of the tank. The back of the tank has an overflow which can be adjusted vertically. Behind the tank is a suction chamber; the lower back part of this suction chamber has an outlet in which the propulsion means of the vessel are located. There is a dispenser for oil-removing compounds-- preferably emulsifiers--installed in the suction chamber. (9 claims)
