Crosslinking delay achieved with gel additive

Presents data for the delay of metal crosslinked hydroxypropyl guar (HPG) fracturing fluids (utilized since the late 1960s) achieved with titanium acetylacetonate, triethanolamine titanate, and zirconium acetylacetonate. Experiment used 0.2-0.3 g of crosslinker and 150 g of a 50-lb/1,000-gal aqueous solution of HPG buffered to a ph of 7.0. Graph shows results as a function of time. Insights into the nature of the delaying process are given.
