This report contains the results of work carried out in support of efforts to remove the impediments to the use of municipal solid waste as a solid fuel due to fear of hazardous waste emissions in general and dioxins in particular. It contains three papers, titled: Tracers for Quality Assurance in Municipal Solid Waste Incineration, Hazardous Waste Aspects of Municipal Solid Waste Incinerators, and Scientific Issues Regarding the Origin and Fate of Dioxins and Related Compounds in Energy Recovery Units.
