var epsilon. -NaMo sub 2 P sub 3 O sub 13 , a new structural form of the Mo(V) phosphates series AMo sub 2 sup V P sub 3 O sub 13

Journal Article · · Journal of Solid State Chemistry; (USA)

Single crystals of a new form of Mo (V) phosphates, {var epsilon}-NaMo{sub 2}P{sub 3}O{sub 13}, have been isolated and its structure has been determined. It crystallizes in the space group P{anti 1} with a = 6.352 {angstrom}, b = 7.448 {angstrom}, c = 10.991 {angstrom}, {alpha} = 75.08{degree}, {beta} = 85.33{degree}, and {gamma} = 79.10{degree}. The (Mo{sub 2}P{sub 3}O{sub 13}){sub {infinity}} host lattice is formed of corner-sharing PO{sub 4} tetrahedra, P{sub 2}O{sub 7} groups, and MoO{sub 6} octahedra, forming large cages where the Na{sup +} ions are located. This original structure is compared to those of the other AMo{sub 2}P{sub 3}O{sub 13} phosphates and especially to that of {gamma}-Cs Mo{sub 2}P{sub 3}O{sub 13}.
