Characterization and donor-acceptor properties of coal liquefaction vacuum bottoms

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6071110
Subbituminous and bituminous coal liquefaction vacuum bottoms were fractionated using supercritical solvents and then further separated into functionality-enriched fractions. Spectroscopic techniques were used to deduce structural properties and assess the extent of specific intermolecular interactions. Donor-acceptor interactions of the charge transfer type appear insignificant relative to hydrogen-bonding and other -electron interactions. 6 refs., 2 figs., 1 tab.
