Fluctuations of the intensity of radiation emitted by multimode gas lasers due to a nonequidistant mode distribution

Journal Article · · Sov. J. Quant. Electron. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
An experimental study was made of the influence of the mode composition of the radiation emitted by freely oscillating helium--neon lasers on the intensity fluctuations. These fluctuations were measured at the wavelength of lambda = 0.63 ..mu.. in the frequency range of 0.5--100 kHz. There was a correlation between low-frequency fluctuations of the intensity and the envelope of high-frequency fluctuations near intermode beat frequencies.
