Method of feedback-controlling idling speed of internal combustion engine

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6069418

This patent describes a method of feedback controlling idling speed in an internal combustion engine, including an intake air amount control for controlling the amount of air intake wherein, during an idling operation the intake air amount control means is feedback controlled as a function of the deviation of actual engine speed from a target engine speed, wherein the engine speed becomes lower than a predetermined speed while the engine is decelerating, the intake air amount control is set to an initial value prior to or at the start of the feedback control. The method includes the steps of: detecting the engine speed; detecting the rate of deceleration of the engine when the detected engine speed becomes lower than the predetermined speed while the engine is decelerating; and setting the initial value of the intake air amount control as a function of the rate of deceleration.
