This handbook provides introduction to the physical and biological principles of radiation oncology. The text is organized into three parts: general principles, technical aspects, and past results and future prospects. The first part of the text continues with sections on terminology, patient assessment, and treatment planning. Also included is a summary of the management of various cancers. The discussion of treatment techniques in part 2 include surface, interstitial, intracavitary, and external sources of radiation. An interesting feature of the book is the use of clinical examples that illustrate the application of each therapeutic technique. The clinical photographs and radiographs that supplement the text are reproduced with remarkable clarity. Of the last three chapters, which constitute part 3 of the book, the most interesting deals with ways to analyze the results of treatment.
