Evidence for collective structure in /sup 214/Po

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. C; (United States)
From ..gamma gamma.. and ..gamma gamma..(theta) coincidence studies the secondexcited state of /sup 214/Po has been identified at1015.0+-0.3 keV, with a most probable/ital J//sup ..pi../=4/sup +/. Transitions from known levels at 1543.5 and1847.4 keV to the new level have been observed. Mixing ratios of2/sup +//r arrow/2/sup +/ transitions and level spins deduced earlierare used to classify a number of levels below 2 MeV in terms of the vibrationalmodel. A level in /sup 214/Po at 1743.0 keV has unambiguously beenassigned a /ital J//sup ..pi../=0/sup +/ on the basis of ..gamma gamma..(theta)measurements. This 0/sup +/ state does not appear to be a member of aphonon multiplet.
