Two scoping sessions of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) discussed the environmental impact statements (EIS) of 24 hydroelectric projects in the region. Staff analysis indicates that these projects could significantly affect the quality of the human environment by interacting with each other to have an adverse effect on dissolved oxygen, recreational fishing, and river navigation. Participants in the sessions included representatives of state and federal agencies and individuals with environmental expertise.
