Idling mode detecting switch for an internal-combustion engine

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6058414
An idling mode detecting switch for an internal combustion engine is described, comprising: a substantially tubular housing which is formed of an electrically conductive material, fixedly mounted on and electrically connected to the throttle body; a push rod slidably supported in the housing and having one end portion projecting from one end of the housing so as to come into contact with a stopper attached to throttle shaft in the throttle body, and having the other end portion located within the housing and having a movable contact electrically connected to the housing for grounding; a fixed contact provided within the housing opposite to the movable contact and insulated from the housing; and an electrically conductive spring which urges the push rod toward the stopper, the stopper pressing the push rod against an energizing force of the spring to cause the movable contact to engage the fixed contact at the idling position of the throttle valve; one end of the spring being securely fixed to the push rod at a position near the movable contact, the other end of the spring being firmly fixed to the housing; and a detention mechanism for preventing turning of the spring within the housing.
