Mass and wave function of the lightest scalar glueball

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. D; (United States)

I have computed via Monte Carlo simulation the mass of the lightest scalar glueball in quarkless SU(3) gauge theory at lattice coupling ..beta.. = 6.0, 6.05, and 6.1. Combining these results with other recent string tension and glueball mass measurements, I extract a continuum glueball mass of m/ ..sqrt..sigma = 3.10(15), where sigma is the string tension. From the behavior of the glueball mass with lattice size the mean glueball diameter and effective three-glueball coupling can also be determined.
