Advises strategic planners to consider sales forecasts, prices, raw materials cost, manufacturing costs, fixed investment, diversification possibilities, new-product RandD and acquisitions. Argues that long-time experience indicates that the accuracy of cash flow forecasts is poor with regard to sales volume and price, raw material cost, rates of inflation and business conditions. Accuracy of cash flow analysis is fair with regard to working capital, manufacturing costs (other than raw materials), and income tax rates. Fixed investment and construction period are the only areas where the accuracy of cash flow forecasting is good.
