This bill was introduced into the U.S. House of Representatives on October 26, 1990 to provide compensation to employees at the Department of Energy defense nuclear facilities for injury or death caused by exposure to ionizing radiation. Compensation will be payable if the disability or death results from an injury if the person was employed for a period of ten years of more in a DOE nuclear defense facility in which radioactive materials were regularly stored, handled, processed, or disposed of. The employee must have received 10 REM or more of the maximum permissible body burden exposure to ionizing radiation. A claim can be enforced if the injured employee is suffering or suffered from the listed forms of cancer.
