Textures in /sup 3/He-A: magnetic deformation in a narrow slab

A variational technique is used to analyze the deformed texture of superfluid /sup 3/He-A in a narrow slab subject to a perpendicular magnetic field. Specific predictions are made for the anisotropy parameters (l/sub z//sup 2/) and (d/sub z//sup 2/), averaged across the width.
