Excimer-laser generator of high-power ultraviolet picosecond pulses synchronized with visible and infrared picosecond pulses

A description is given of a generator of high-power ultrashort pulses of ultraviolet radiation of approx.30 psec duration and approx.10 mJ energy at lambda = 0.308 ..mu... These pulses are generated by amplification in an excimer (XeCl) amplifier of the second harmonic of a dye laser pumped synchronously by a train of picosecond pulses representing the second harmonic of a YAlO/sub 3/:Nd/sup 3 +/ laser with passive mode locking.
