Quark mass matrices and flavor mixing

We discuss a class of mass matrices reflecting the three hierarchical families of quarks and their predictions for the Kobayashi-Maskawa mixing matrix. According to the particular mass matrix, consistency with data occurs provided either that the t-quark current mass at low energy lies between 20 and 80 GeV/c/sup 2/ or that this mass is around 80 GeV/c/sup 2/.
