Hydraulic testing of crushed Bandelier Tuff
This report emphasizes large-scale testing, using the instantaneous profile method, for determination of unsaturated hydraulic conductivity. To allow for comparison, unsaturated conductivity was measured in the laboratory using the pressure plate method. Laboratory techniques and large-scale testing for determination of unsaturated hydraulic conductivity using the instantaneous profile method have been studied. It was found that in both cases the hydraulic conductivity could best be expressed as a power function of the water ratio by volume. Both graphical and analytical methods were used to analyze the moisture and tensiometric data provided by the instantaneous profile method and led to the determination of the hydraulic conductivity values. 13 references, 6 figures, 9 tables.
