Low profile fuel injection rail
A low profile fuel injection rail assembly is described. It consists of an elongated fuel rail beam with nodular sections connected in series by narrow tubular sections, each of the nodular sections having interior wall surfaces, which define a fuel sump chamber having a bottom end, tubular fuel injector socket members projecting into the sump chambers from the bottom ends. Each of the socket members have an open bottom entrance end for holding a top portion of a fuel injector in fluid tight communication with the sump chamber, the nodular sections and the sockets being formed such that the lower interior wall surfaces of each of the nodular sections and the exterior wall surfaces of each of the sockets jointly define an annular well which extends below the adjacent outer bottom surface portions of the narrow tubular members, fitments for connecting the fuel rail beam to a fuel supply system, and a stub section extending longitudinally from at lease one end nodular section of the series. The stud section has a cross sectional open interior area which is larger than that of the tubular section and smaller than that of the nodular sections, and the fuel system connector fitments are attached thereto.
