Particle motion above the surface of a fluidized bed: Multiparticle effects

Journal Article · · ACS Symp. Ser.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6051579
Previous analyses of particle ejections and entrainment from the surface of a fluidized bed suffer from the assumption of isolated, single particle behavior. In the present study, an improved description of particle motion is given based on the equations of multiphase transport phenomena. Preliminary numerical results of the particle trajectories indicate that multiparticle effects may significantly influence the rates of solids entrainment and elutriation.
