It is shown that the correct inclusion of the Coriolis interaction between the motion of the muon and the nuclei in the adiabatic representation of the three-body problem (two nuclei and a ..mu../sup -/ meson) leads to the correct asymptotic form of the wave functions of mesic molecules in the limit of the unified atom. In this limit the meson motion is naturally described in the laboratory, and not in a rotating coordinate frame as it is for equilibrium internuclear distances. The asymptotic form obtained is compared to the asymptotic form of the wave functions found by numerical solution of the system of equations for the motion of the nuclei in the mesic molecule pd..mu...
