Tabulated data are presented on the following aspects of the ground freight transportation industry in the U.S.: trucking firms, employees, and payrolls for U.S. geographic regions; rail freight employees; size and number of trucking companies and terminals; fuel consumption for ground freight transport; fossil fuels and electric power consumption in ground freight industry; employment and earnings for rail and truck freight workers; and major consumers of the output of the transportation and warehousing industry. Most of these statistics are for years 1967 to 1972. (LCL)
