Radiochemical study of hydroxide films. V. Effect of carbonate ion on statics and kinetics of sorption of microamounts of uranium by thin-layer titanium hydroxide

The effect of carbonate ion on the statics and kinetics of sorption of microamounts of uranium from artificial seawater has been studied. It was found experimentally that with increase of carbonate concentration in the solution the distribution coefficient diminishes due to formation of uranyltricarbonate complex not amenable to sorption by titanium hydroxide. It has been shown that dissociation of the tricarbonate form of uranyl is the limiting stage of sorption. The principal kinetic parameters of the process have been determined.
