Health hazard evaluation report HETA 82-224-1336, Miami Fire Department, Miami, Florida

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6048570

To evaluate the possibility that fire fighters had been exposed to polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) during an electrical fire inside an underground transformer vault, samples were collected 3 days after the fire, and subsequent to cleanup of the vault by the power company. The results support the findings of other studies which indicate that polychlorinated dibenzofurans are trace contaminants of technical grade PCB oils and may be produced during fires involving PCBs.
