Future water requirements for the production of oil in Texas

This report is a projection to the year 2020 of water requirements for the production of oil in Texas. Texas oil reserves from known reservoir recoverable by water injection are estimated to be slightly over 4 billion bbl. Oil reserves from future discoveries susceptible to recovery by water injection are estimated to be almost 12 billion bbl. On the average, 8.2 bbl of water are required to produce 1 bbl of oil in Texas.
