West Virginia Coal Development Authority's slurry study

Conference · · Coal Technol. (Houston); (United States)
OSTI ID:6048137
The study for the Coal Development Authority of the State of West Virginia reveals the following major conclusions: Long-distance coal slurry pipelines are technically and economically viable from mining areas in West Virginia to East Coast locations; Coal slurry pipelines can be constructed and operated in an environmentally acceptable manner. Pipelines are safe and offer several advantages over other modes of transportation; Both the domestic and export markets for coal are forecast to grow and West Virginia has sufficient reserves to play a vital role in meeting these forecasts. Transportation costs will be a major factor in determining a state's or country's market share
