According to Dresser Industries, Inc., the R/sub wa/ method - which is basically a simple rearrangement of the classic Archie equation - offers a quick and easy means of scanning long sections of logged intervals to locate reservoir zones requiring more detailed analysis. With this apparent-water-resistivity technique, analysts can pinpoint potential pay zones, determine formation-water salinity, and estimate water saturation. It works well in compacted and unconsolidated (shallow or overpressured), clean or shaly clastic sediments and carbonate sections.
