Public opinion and interest-group positions on Chesapeake Bay issues: implications for resource management

Journal Article · · Coast. Zone Manage. J.; (United States)

This research examines public opinion on a number of topics regarding the use and management of the Chesapeake Bay. At the same time, a comparison is made of the various citizen attitudes with policies advocated by selected interest groups in the Bay area. The findings show that the interest-group policies are generally in consonance with citizen attitudes on environmental and Bay-related issues. Among the most important areas of agreement is the belief held by citizens and interest groups alike that the increased need for energy is not necessarily of more importance than environmental preservation. 11 references, 2 figures, 1 table.
