H sup minus formation from collision induced dissociation of H sub 3 sup + in noble gases at keV energies

We have measured the energy distributions of H{sup {minus}} ions produced by the collision-induced dissociation process of H{sub 3}{sup +} molecular ions in noble gas targets. The most probable H{sup {minus}} c.m. energy was measured and over the energy range studied it was found to be dependent of the target species. Inelastic energy loss of 22{plus minus}6 eV was measured and found to be the same for all cases.
