Saddle-point solution in the Weinberg-Salam theory

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. D; (United States)
We give a close approximation to a static, but unstable, solution of the classical field equations of the Weinberg-Salam theory, where the weak mixing angle THETA/sub w/ is considered to be small. Its energy increases from approx.8 TeV to approx.14 TeV as the Higgs coupling lambda runs from 0 to infinity. Furthermore, it has a large magnetic dipole moment and its baryonic (and leptonic) charge is (1/2). The possible physical relevance of this solution is discussed.
