The report has documented some of the progress in relationship-building that has already occurred, resulting in greater health and prosperity for the economy and the environment. Economic development and environmental practitioners have worked together in states such as Washington, New York, Pennsylvania and California and cities like Philadelphia and San Diego. Non-profit organizations, community development corporations and business development corporations have also provided benefits at the neighborhood scale: employment for the community, start-up assistance for environmental businesses, and waste reduction assistance for industries with waste stream problems.
