The effect of radial vibrations in a piezoelectric transducer on the error is analyzed when evaluating the size of a flaw according to the amplitude of an echo signal reflected from it. The degree of the error is appraised experimentally for various time relations of the useful signal and the radial vibrations. There is some loss of resolution in the method which is fully compensated by its other advantages, so it can be recommended as the simplest and most efficient means of rejecting the radial vibrations of piezoelectric transducers.
